Be There or Be Square: Why We Fight Traffic Like It’s Personal

At Mobile Studio USA, punctuality is paramount. We understand the importance of arriving on time, especially when working with busy talent and crews.

One way to ensure a smooth start to your session is by successfully calculating TRAFFIC time. Let’s face it, facing a potential delay while sitting helplessly in traffic is not exactly the ideal start for a successful recording session.

Double the estimated travel time!

Traffic is no laughing matter. That’s why we take it extremely seriously. We plan for the worst-case scenario while hoping for the best. So, how do we ensure punctuality? Simple: we double the estimated travel time.

Yes, you read that right! Doubling the travel time not only accounts for unexpected traffic delays but also allows for potential setup emergencies on location.

It’s crucial to have a clear “emergency protocol” in mind. This means anticipating potential issues that might arise during setup, such as needing to make a quick trip to the store or back to your home base. Traffic conditions should always be factored in. For example, if rush hour traffic is a possibility, you’ll need to adjust your buffer time accordingly.

Now, here’s the funny part (and a client favorite!): I like to jokingly tell my clients “We sit in traffic so you don’t have to!” It lightens the mood, but there’s truth in that jest. We take the stress of traffic off your shoulders so you can focus on what matters – a successful shoot.

And guess what? It works! In our 17 years of service, we’ve never once been late to a session. Not a single one (hope I am not jinxing us!). Call it luck, call it dedication – we will take it!

So remember, when it comes to scheduling, don’t underestimate the power of a good buffer. The extra time might feel excessive, but trust me, it’s a small price to pay for peace of mind – yours and ours!

Don’t Get Caught in the Storm: Why Preparedness Wins

As a business owner, I’ve come to appreciate the power of Mother Nature – and the importance of being prepared for her every whim. We all know weather can be unpredictable, and underestimating it can be a recipe for disaster.

Sure, you check the forecast before heading out for a meeting. But here’s the thing: a quick glance isn’t enough. Always factor in a last-minute weather and traffic check before you head out the door. Those unexpected downpours or traffic jams can wreak havoc on your schedule (and your mood!).

Being prepared isn’t just about checking the forecast, though. It’s about having what you need to handle whatever the weather throws your way. That’s why I recommend every business invest in a good extreme weather preparedness kit. Here are a few essentials to consider:

  • Floor Mats: Let’s face it, rainy days mean wet floors. Having a good set of floor mats can help prevent slips and falls – protecting both your employees and your customers.
  • Umbrellas: This one’s a no-brainer. A stash of umbrellas ensures everyone can get from point A to point B without getting soaked.
  • Canopy: For those times when you need a little extra shelter, a pop-up canopy can be a lifesaver. Think unexpected outdoor meetings, deliveries in the rain, or even creating a shaded area for customers.
  • Exterior Lights and Extension Cords: Shorter days and bad weather can mean limited visibility. Having extra exterior lights and extension cords on hand allows you to illuminate your workspace or storefront, ensuring safety and security.

By taking these simple steps, you can keep your business running smoothly, rain or shine. A little preparedness goes a long way in avoiding disruptions and keeping your employees and customers happy. So next time you hear the forecast rumbling, remember: a little planning can make a big difference.
